Linux Tomcat and WildbookΒΆ

This tutorial will show you how to create a template which will deploy a three server stack (HaProxy Load Balancer, Tomcat server with the Wildbook application, and MySQL Server to host the Wildbook database) using Chef to install the software on the servers. After creating the template a blueprint will be created in Dell Cloud Manager and then the stack will be launched from the blueprint. The tutorial uses Chef cookbooks that you can download that installs and configures the HaProxy Load Balancer, Tomcat Server with the Wildbook Application and the MySQL server. This tutorial also includes adding auto scaling and auto healing policies in the template.

If you wish to perform this tutorial yourself:

This tutorial assumes you have a basic understanding of Chef and you have Chef credentials. Refer to the Chef online documentation Getting Started to learn Chef.
  • You will need to download and install the Dell Cloud Manager blueprint command line tools. Refer to the Prerequisites section in this document for instructions on how to install and setup these commands if you have not done so already.
  • You will need the necessary authority to manage the catalog (public or company) you will be adding blueprints to. Refer to the Catalogs section in this document for more information.

This tutorial is launching a stack in the Amazon Web Services cloud. You can substitute a different cloud provider’s cloud that Dell Cloud Manager supports.
