Blueprint Designer Guide

Preface

Welcome to the Dell Cloud Manager Blueprint Designer Guide. This guide will show you how you can create custom blueprints (templates of your service or application architectures). Once they are created, you can then provision your services or applications (stacks) defined in the blueprints quickly and reliably from the Dell Cloud Manager console, the Dell Cloud Manager API or from Dell Cloud Manager commands. You can define policies in your blueprints for auto scaling that Dell Cloud Manager will use to scale capacity up or down as needed to handle increased or decreased demand. You can also define policies in your blueprints for auto healing that Dell Cloud Manager will use to detect impaired resources and reboot or replace them.

Audience

The Dell Cloud Manager Blueprint Designer Guide is intended for Dell Cloud Manager administrators or application architects responsible for performing these tasks:

  • Designing service or application blueprints.
  • Creating, maintaining, testing and debugging service or application blueprints.

About this guide

We recommend that you read this guide thoroughly before attempting to create blueprints and launch them. That being said this guide has Template samples and Tutorials to get you started so you can then create your own blueprints.
