Creating a company Catalog

The first time a user creates a blueprint for a company catalog, the company catalog will be created if it does not exist. You can create the company catalog for your customer company beforehand with the create-company-catalog command or from the Dell Cloud Manager console.

Enable manage company catalog authority

In order to manage the company catalog (which includes creating the company catalog and adding blueprints), the user(s) must have manage the company catalog authority. That authority is granted at the group level by selecting the checkbox labeled “Allow group members to manage the company catalog”.


Create the catalog (command)


Creaing the company catalog using the create-company-catalog command requires the Dell Cloud Manager command line tools to be installed and setup. Refer to the Prerequisites section in this document for instructions on how to install and setup these commands if you have not done so already.

To create a company catalog you execute the create-company-catalog command that was installed as part of the Dell Cloud Manager command line tools. Note the parameters --displayname, --description, --ownername and --owneremail are optional.

Create the catalog (console)

To create the company catalog from the Dell Cloud Manager console:

  1. Click on the Catalog menu.
  2. Click on the Manage Catalog tab in the left frame.
  3. Click on the Company Catalog tab.
  4. Click on the Create Company Catalog button.

Enter the desired Name for the company catalog, a Description (optional), Owner and Owner Email Address. Then click on the Add Catalog button.


The company catalog is created.
